Asset Management

It is said that ' success breeds success '. This may be true for some but not all. It is true to say however, that as companies grow, so do their assets. It is these assets that remain even if the company does not. The need to roll out, use, or be seen with new technology often produces a surplus of, or redundant IT hardware. The successful management of this hardware can save you money and is where Clones UK can help.

We live in a ' throwaway ' society that cannot continue forever. The environmental impact affects us all. Governments round the world have recognised this and have introduced laws to try to curb the trend of companies, that buy technology in a reactive rather than proactive manner. It is now law that you must dispose of your IT hardware responsibly. Of course this introduces problems and costs you money.

The WEEE Directive (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment)
- Seeks to increase recycling and recovery of waste equipment
- Became European law 13th February 2003
- Member states must implement by 13th August 2004

Good news and bad

Many recyclers exist that will offer to take these redundant assets away for you. They make money reselling them in the public sector. However, the kind of hardware that sells to those end users, is often not the kind of hardware businesses use. The recyclers have to compete with high street prices, so they charge you to take these assets away. Sometimes as much as £ 15.00 per item. Even in a small business this can add up to hundreds or thousands of pounds.

Realise the value

Many companies would rather plan for what they want to achieve, than to take stock of what they already have. Just because you don't value your IT hardware anymore, doesn't mean we don't. Clones UK do not charge to dispose of your assets. In fact we offer you money for some items.

We provide support to the IT industry worldwide - about Clones UK

Some items may be suitable for recycling as is, some may be broken down into their component parts. By recycling hardware in this way and by working with partner companies, charities, etc, we can extend the life of many IT items, thus reducing the disposal costs to you.

if any items cannot be recycled, then they are responsibly disposed of as per government guidelines and law.

How does this work ?

We recognise that your time is important. Often, the disposal responsibility is in addition to any normal duties. We catalogue all your assets for you when they arrive with us at our facility. Asset registers are kept showing individual item details - models, serial numbers, tags etc. As hardware is processed logs are kept showing how they are recycled. Once this process is completed, a copy of the register is forwarded to you for your records, clearly showing what items have been disposed of. This can be kept with, or used to update your own asset / stock records.

Security

All information relating to previous use and ownership is removed. Hard drives are data wiped or destroyed for confidentiality. Asset registers record the disposal of items.

Be responsible, be proud

By recycling correctly your IT assets, you help project a corporate image that is one to admire and inspire. We already help educational establishments, health service and charities both directly and indirectly, in all aspects of support. By partnering Clones UK in recycling, you too can help.

What about none redundant assets ?

We can provide a tagging and / or refurbishment service for your current assets. This may include general servicing or major repairs. This service can be used in conjunction with new roll outs for your asset register, or preventative maintenance for less ' downtime ', potential extended life and reliability. Remember, most major problems develop from small ones left unattended.
